suggestion for the gallery

In all seriousness, I think all of the artists have great and creative ideas for the fan arts in this website. It's also cool to be able to see a lot of NIMHmuck art.

Though thinking about the fun I had looking at the fan art before I became Hiro on NIMHmuck, I'd like to explain how I feel lately.

I've noticed that there's a lot NIMHmuck, etc fanart in the art gallery and not much Secret of NIMH (by this I mean fanarts of the actuall movie, novel, etc).

So, here's my suggestion.

I think it might be better if NIMHmuck art and Secret of NIMH art become separate. Then people who are fans of SoN and not players on NIMHmuck would be able to enjoy their part of the fan art gallery.

I know the problem might be that it'd be hard to see the border between what is SoN and what is not considering the fact that the feature characters on the muck are also characters of the movie.

Another problem would probably be how artists that have already submitted hundreds of fanarts won't be able to separate the SoN and NIMHmuck stuff.

But putting the problems into account, what do you think?

Erm... well, I consider NIMH art as being both featured characters and OCs, so I'm not entirely sure what this is about. That, and I enjoy drawing OCs more than FCs; more room for originality.

Hmm.. being an artist on the gallery who's art rarely gets looked at to begin with, I would be against the separation of movie-related art from muck related and so on. The term 'fan art' to me means art related to Secret of NIMH or fan extensions thereof, not just the movie itself. There's a an entire gallery full of screengrabs for that, already. Besides, I thought art appreciation was about the content itself, and not where the content originated. :?

Perhaps though, for artists who wanted to participate and place fan art of FC characters separate, could simply create a separate sub-album for that purpose. On that note I would like it if it was easier to find pics such as the one of Mrs.Brisby Marcus did years ago. She looked sassy, something I think fits her well, post-movie. ;)

I've thought of seeing if there's a way to highlight cannon characters and such, but it's something that I'd have to look into. The search works fairly well, however, if you keep in mind that it's case sensitive. I'm hoping to resolve some of these issues with the server upgrade.
