litaps camerali HEY! CAN YOU HEAR ME?

Oh, the mike's working. liahemli

Hi there, I'm Jon. I'm a soon-to-be graduate from Canada with a heavy interest in pre-2000 cartoon entertainment. My strengths lie specifically in analyzing (and enjoying) films and television shows that do not pander to the children of the era - NIMH and Animaniacs being just two examples - and interpreting them with a heavy emphasis on the purpose of censorship.

On a less academic note, I'm a total RP dork, or I was a year or so ago before I left my last forum. I've created a multitude of characters, including Richard the Imp (a rat from NIMH, also my alias in NIMHmuck), and written several stories (ignoring the severely amateur stories from before 2009, I have a page of unfinished work at FanFiction.net). My strength in the artistic side lies very much in the writing (I couldn't draw for peanuts) and construction of characters, as well as the more academic enjoyment of deconstructing stories and characters in order to relate them to the times.

Basically, it's about time I went and got an account here, especially since I'm so heavily into NIMH (and woe unto he who deigns NIMH 2 canon) and other Don Bluth works. I've read many different fanfictions - my favourites would have to be Procyon's The Secret of the Stone and Paul Gibbs' The Rats of Thorn Valley and its sequel - and looked over a great deal of fan art before coming here, so I feel as though I've already delved into the community. Hopefully I'll have a great time fitting myself into it.

Sincerely,
Jon

Well, hello and welcome, Sir Jon! Glad to have you here in the presence of many other NIMH fans. What's your fanfiction.net account name? I may have run across one of your stories while browsing the NIMH fanfiction there.

Why thankee for the kind words, you two ^_^

My FF.net u-name, Congie, is Hera Ledro. I've unfortunately submitted nothing for NIMH fanfiction, but my recent interests have revolved around the Redwall series (requiescat in pace Brian Jacques...) and Biker Mice From Mars (...I think I have a thing for mice D: ). I started something on the 1997 film Cats Don't Dance, but I have no plans of finishing it in the near future (which is a pity, because I have a whole story outline that's being wasted in my head).

Fair warning: if you intend to read anything I would HIGHLY suggest you ignore the following stories:

-American Dragon: Jake Long - Season Three (probably my noobiesh story ever)
-The entire Discovery series (it's going through a major revamp)
-Take the first two proper chapters of Dissonance with a grain of salt, as they too are being revamped and re-edited for quality.

But yeah, it's Hera Ledro, same as here ^_^

@ Simon

I received your reply, and plan to start work on the full article ASAP. I always thought the movie was underestimated for lots of things; obviously it has its flaws, but to me they don't stand out enough to eclipse any of the pros in the movie as they do for many critics. Hopefully I'll have a draft up soon, since it originated mainly as a spin-off from a position paper on censorship for an advanced writing class.

Greetings Jon aka Hera Ledro. My own interests, as you've probably noticed, are geared toward f-f (writing my own and reading others), so I'm looking forward to seeing your analysis of NIMH and whatever else you can bring to the table.

Why thankee, guys ^_^

@David Leemhuis

My analysis of NIMH is actually looking to be at least short-story length; I'll be analyzing all the original works - both films and the novels with exception to M-T, Margaret, and the Rats of NIMH - as well as fan-works. Basically this serves as a documentary of what I would like to refer to as the NIMH phenomenon (chances are that word is taken, but I can work with that). I can actually generalize this phenomenon into the fan-omenon, a phenomenon which occurs over many different works such that (I postulate) the work spawns a following due in part to instances I'll have outlined. My work will only document the NIMH phenomenon, but I believe its observations may be generalized and carried into all fandoms.
