Greetings. I am Procyon.

After writing that I was hoping something interesting would pop into my head. Ah well... I'm not sure what I should write here so I'll just keep going until I get tried.

That probably doesn't actually help at all. Okey-dokes. Lets try something else...
I am a big fan of animation and almost anything to do with it. It's the feeling that animation can immediately take you to another world that doesn't actually exist in reality that attracts me to it. When watching a live action film you have to wait for the story to get going. When looking at animation you are riveted form the first frame (well I am anyway). Of course this is an oversimplification but but is my general rule.
Secret of NIMH I think sums up everything about animation that is great. It contains a fantastic world, a good story, beautifully designed characters, a brilliant musical score, everything needed to make a good animated movie, but it also has a darkness that is not present in a lot of other offerings within the genre (Western animation anyway); an atmosphere that is unique. The only other film I think that comes close is Watership Down (though there may be others that I just can't bring to mind at the moment) as that too has a grittiness that most other animation studios seem to shy away from. Unfortunately Watership Down lacks the technical expertise present in NIMH.
Well look at me rambling on. You know how good NIMH is and have your own reasons for loving it. But the above sums up well why I think animation is a wonderful method of telling stories.
Okay, a bit more about me I guess... I like to think of myself as an artist first and a writer second (that sounds really pretentious! Strictly amateur at both or course), and am trying to put a fan fiction together (coming soon). There are pictures/designs in the fan art gallery that tie in with the story. Please go and have a look. Also I really like feedback (good or bad) and always appreciate suggestions.
Outside of NIMH and animation I am a fan of cinema in general (film making looks like one of the most fun and challenging things in the world), as well as all the usual stuff like music (a very eclectic taste), gaming (anything with a bit of action), reading (any old rubbish, though has anyone heard of Michael Marshall-Smith?), I also do some video and audio editing as a hobby... Just thought I'd mention it. However I like to keep an open mind and can usually become fairly enthusiastic about almost anything.
Okay I've talked long enough (wow! I really have gone on a bit...). I wonder if anyone will actually read this? Thank you if you have.
See you around!

ProC.
