As you may have noticed, Thorn Valley is now back to normal once more. I received the new hardware a couple days ago. I was able to install a new motherboard, CPU and Memory, and after a small amount of reconfiguration, the server was back up to speed.

I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to those of you that donated money to help offset the cost of the new hardware. With the funds raised ($180 total), I was able to get not just replacement hardware, but ligoodli replacement hardware that should fill the needs of this site for some time to come. Again, thank you!

For those of you who are curious, here are the specs of the new hardware:
  1. AMD Athlon 64 X2 4000+ (dual core)
  2. MSI K9NBPM2-FID AM2 NVIDIA Quadro NVS 210S Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
  3. Kingston ValueRAM 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Memory
    [/list:u]

In short, if you thought Thorn Valley was faster after the move, it's screaming now. If you notice Thorn Valley being slow, it's almost certainly a network issue. ;)

Glad to see the site back in order at last.

Kingston, yes, good stuff. I will never buy generic ram again, thanks to Fry's.

The motherboard of the server that hosts Thorn Valley went out and I had to use an older server for Thorn Valley until I could get the parts replaced.
