When I looked in the credits in The Secret of NIMH, in the Cel Painter's section, I saw one first name only. Curious, I wanted to find out so I e-mailed Don and Gary. When I read the reply, I was pretty amazed to hear the answer. The name was of a CAT!

Here's the question and reply:

Message: Hello, Don, Gary, and the rest of the crew. Nimhster here again. When I watched "The Secret of NIMH" again, when the end credits came, In the last part for the cel painters, I see someone's name labeled "Missy". Who is Missy?

Reply: NIMHSTER, Actually we wanted to give everyone on staff credit for their contributions to the film. When we first moved in, we had found an abandoned cat under the bushes around the building used as our studio. She became the studio mascot, usually sleeping on Don's work table as he designed the characters and drew the storyboard panels. When we completed the film, we agreed we would give her a credit at the very end of the tail credits. No pun intended. Missy was the name we gave the cat. Thank you for writing. All the best.

Why not? Jay Miner gave his dog credit for designing the Commodore Amiga. Pop the lid on an A1000 and you'll see a pawprint molded into the underside, along with the signatures of the human members of the design team. Sounds perfectly fair to me, heh.

That was cool, I love it when small tid-bits are found, while reading one of Don`s books I was amazed to find out how the character of Jeremy came in to being for the movie.
