I spent some time in Photoshop and jEdit over the weekend and came up with this:

Comments? I've only tested in Firefox 2 and IE 7, so if you notice anything that looks weird, let me know what browser you're using. n.n

Looks good so far. The pictures are very effective.

Hi Simon,

It's looking good to me. The log of recent forum posts on the right side of the page is a nice addition, but I would suggest you make the background there a darker shader of color - similar to the navigation panel on the left side. That way the page background isn't bleeding into the text as much.

Really? Huh. I thought the background was dark enough as is. You sure you don't have your monitor's brightness pushed up too far? Or do you use a Mac? (some of them use a different monitor gamma, though I don't know if that's still the case now.)

In any case, I haven't completely finished twiddling with the sidebars yet.

I love it, can't wait to see the rest when it's all done. :)

It was just a suggestion. It's plenty readable as it is, I just think it would look nicer since it would be more consistent with the left menu. But you do whatever you think looks best. :)

I like it, my NIMH site is maxed out in what I know how to do (still learning), your old style was great, now this moving up. :)

I'm a horrible critic, but I think it looks pretty good.
I'm also perfectly fine with Thorn Valley's current version. Can't understand why you'd want to change it, but I figure it's not something I should be messing in.
I'd say both versions convey extreme NIMHity. :)
