Has anyone read this series besides me? I discovered it by accident in Barnes and Noble, and absolutely fell in love with it.
It's about a young squirrel named Urchin, who arrives on the island of Mistmantle under mysterious circumstances. No one knows anything about him, except that he is very pale, completely unlike the other squirrels on the island. And the rest....well, I'm not going to ruin it for you, but I was enthralled and entertained.
The series has been compared to Brian Jacques' "Redwall" books, but honestly, I like "Mistmantle" much better--for one thing, there's no ridiculous species stereotyping that annoys me so much in the Redwall series. There are good animals and bad, but it doesn't depend on their species.
The reason I posted this here? Two of the characters remind me strongly of Justin and Jenner. These characters, Husk and Crispin, are definitely worth reading about. And, like my crush on Justin so very long ago, I now have a crush on Crispin. Oh dearie me...
