Wow, research that even the subjects enjoy? I never thought that possible.
Now I will need serious therapy for all this cuteness.

Interesting, laughter from rats. I've been thinking of dogs and cats laughing too. :o

Looks like those guys are having fun, you can almost hear the laughter from them.
Years back When I would play with my hamsters they keep running back to my hand for more, Heck they must have been having fun :D

I totally agree with you on this one Cedric. But then again when I think about it, I'm not at all surprised. Unless you're a real ogre or hermit type that totally shuns any kind of contact with members of his/her own kind, who among us does not enjoy indeed seek out pleasurable physical contact; i.e an affectionate rub, a kiss, a hug, or as in this case a tickle? Just because we can't measure or quantify something immediately does not mean that it does not exist. I know I've said this before, but I'll say it again. As our technology advances, we will no doubt be forced to come to new (maybe even drastic) conclusions regarding animal behavior and intelligence. I personally feel that as new advances are made, we will finally come to the realization that a lot of our fellow inhabitants on this planet are far more intelligent than we give them credit for.

Peace :)

Well, I fall into that ogre/hermit category. But it's not necessarily by my own free-will. I am afraid of being with people, and even I wouldn't mind such contact every once in a while.

well its not suprising that other animals have the same emotions as humans. i am not suprised at all

Whoever said they didn't?
We can't detect these emotions as easily as we do our own, but that is no reason to say they don't exist.
