I'm not much for most fanfiction, bu someday if I become an accomplished published author as I dream of doing one day (I have BIG hopes set in my main writing project now!!!) ...but someday, I have ideas set in my mind for a possible continuing saga for the NIMH series, and I wonder if one day it would be possible to get permission from the Robert C. O'brien treasury to write and publish an approved continuation of the NIMH series? That would be SOOO awesome...

My vision would be a successive telling of how the rats' civilization advances through the decades and the struggles it has to face, especially in remaining undiscovered as their burgeoning empire (with many colonies established in new areas) advances in technology, industry, and population.

I would delve further into the political complexities of their governmental system and how their leaders address the Nicodemian Empire's growing problems.

...I want to know... How many of you have read Isaac Asimov's Foundation series? I envision it being somewhat similar to those incredible science fiction stories in the increasing complexity and drama to the story that unfolds from humble beginnings.

In a way, the capital city at Thorn Valley would be in many ways like Trantor in being a super-densely populated, uber-industrialized center of control for the rest of the empire's distant forest colonies, which it over time loses touch with and struggles to keep total control of. There are so many possibilities I just can't imagine how extensive a saga this could be.

Being a writer myself, I have to say that is an interesting idea for a NIMH Story. Though, I have doubts the Foundation would permit it.

Still would be interesting to see.

I didn't know there was such a foundation.
If you can get permission to write your own sequel, I might read it. It's worth a try.

I'll write it anyway, even if you can't publish it you know you are welcome to post it here..
