They're both members of the rodent family, right? So would it be possible for a rat and a mouse to mate successfuly? Just curious.

Short answer: no.

A very interesting article, Simon. Thanks for posting.

"Mouse-killing behavior in rats: muricide" There's an interesting new word for today.

In my fanfic, Dr. George is able to go beyond the limits of established science and create true hybrids. :D

If I may also add my thoughts, in Gerald Andrews' fanfics, Justin marries Mrs. B. What's more is they are successful in having two hybrid children.
From a reality standpoint, I'm not really surprised that rats and mice don't get together. It doesn't seem natural and nature would probably set up barriers to keep meddling humans from trying to make ratmice. What does surprise me is the part about rats killing mice. That just doesn't sound right.

Hhmm... where can I find Gerald Andrews' fanfics?

I found it on Robin's Fanfic site. Though it may be elsewhere. The stories I'm talking about are 'Secrets are Forever' and 'Out of Range'. Both are pretty good stories.
