I know that none can beat the origional cast of NIMH, but if you could do a re-make, who would you cast and for which character?

Here is my cast:
Mrs. Brisby: Kate Winslit (Titanic)
Nicodemos: Ian Mckellen (LOTR trilogy)
Jeremy: Will Smith (Fresh Prince)
Great Owl: Chistopher Lee (LOTR trilogy)
Justin: Mark Hamil (Star Wars)
Jenner: Ron Perlman (Teen Titans)
Mr. Ages: Hank Azarea (The Simpsons)
Auntie Shrew: Tress Macniel (Animaniacs)
There may be some spelling mistake, but anyway thats my cast.

NIMHmaniac

And just who would you cast for the children's roles??
For starters, I think that the twin boys from "The Suite Life of Zack & Cody" could both play the part of Martin.

Peace :D

Great cast. For some reason, I always see Christopher Lloyd as Nicodemus. But oh well, he is probably too comical and expensive.

Jeremy being played by Will Smith? I kind of find that funny.

I agree with you on that NIMHmaniac, and I think Tara Strong could do the voices of both Teresa and Cynthia. And Cedric, Christopher Lloyd has shown that he can play both serious and comical roles.

I don't know, he is on that kids show called Cyberchase as Hecker.. So having him in NIMH don't seem too far off.

Cedric

I watch that show from time to time. It's below my level, but I enjoy it. My favorite role he's played was Dr. Emmett L. Brown in the Back to the Future trilogy.

I don't know, I find it very educational and Buss and Delete crack me up.. I also like Herry..

21-10-2006 06:57:39

Oh boy. Cedric, Jayn, are you two going to have long random conversations at every topic I post?

Jayn

21-10-2006 11:32:17

Yea we better move our conversations to NIMHster's, don't want to gety into trouble..

Cedric

21-10-2006 18:52:20

good idea. Note to self: keep on topic at Thorn Valley, move all irrelevent stuff to Nimhster's.

We can talk about this over at my discovery topic..

Anyway, does any one else have their own NIMH cast, and what do you think of my own?

leejakobson

23-10-2006 14:39:20

i would not use will smith maybe robin williams but even him i would be weary of using to replace jeremy perhaps use a new person on him. nicodimus has to be Ian McDiarmid
mr. ages: frank oz
justin; maybe jim carry
give me a little while to think of more

Cedric

23-10-2006 17:03:40

Maybe have a whole remake of the movie with some more scenes in the lab. With voices for the scientists.

DarthCraftus

28-10-2006 09:08:38

Oh, I just thought of another actor to play Justin: Viggo Mortonson. (Did I spell that right?)

GrizzlyCoon

XZIBIT- The Great Owl

Pauly Shore- Jeremy the Crow

Patrick Warburton- Brutus
(who should be given a more developed and important character role in the movie)

Andy Dick- Nicodemus
(who is in my ideal version of the movie not a decrepit old wizard, but instead the younger, heroic charismatic swashbuckling eyepatch-donned communist leader he was in the book)

Christopher Lee- Jenner
("A new power is rising!")

David Spade- Justin
("bew-whip!")

Christopher Lloyd- Mr. Ages
("1.21 giga-watts!? Do you realize how much pepsesseewin I'll need to generate 1.21 giga-watts!?")

Wanda Sykes- Aunti Shrew
("...Oh no you didn't!")

Catherine O'hara - Mrs. Frisby
(I like to imagine Mrs. Frisby as having a minnesota accent "Oooooohh deeeeeaaarie!")

Cedric

29-10-2006 16:35:45

Christopher Lloyd rocks. "The Hacker to you." (from the Cyberchase TV show)

here is my update for great actors to make a remake
i got a great jenner :Alan Rickman
mr ages: Brendan Gleeson

A.J. The Echidna

01-01-2007 17:46:06

Jeremy: Gilbert Gottfired
(He's played so many birds already. "HEY MIZZ BRIZZ!")

Justin: Randy Savage
("We're the Rats of NIMH, OH YEEEAAAAAAH!")

Jenner: Dave King from Flogging Molly

Sullivan: Eddie Murphy
(You just know it'll be funnier that way.)

Auntie Shrew: Niecy Nash

Martin: Rupert Grint

Timothy: The son from The Ring movies

Teresa: No one can replace Shannon Dorehty

Cynthia: A Random little girl from the Disney Channel

Nicodemus: Sean Connery

Mrs. Brisby: No one can replace Elizabeth Heartman but I'd have to say Mandy Moore. She made a great Aerith Gainsbororgh in Kingdom Hearts.

My first choice for Mrs. Brisby would be Catherine O Hara. You know her as the voice of Sally from Nightmare before Christmas. I think she is very effective with that motherly voice that she has displayed most recently in Over the Hedge.

Christopher Lee is the Great Owl.

Mrs. Brisby - Mia Farrow, once the voice for Amalthea from The Last Unicorn, now a main character in the new (and quite cute) movie Arthur and the Invisibles. I could also see Nicole Kidman with a slight southern accent (like in Cold Mountain when she played Ava Monroe) too.

Jonathan - Bob Newhart, he did Bernard in the Rescuers movies for disney and the voice fits a mouse perfectly in my opinion...I LOVE Bernard! Or possibly...I've always seen Jonathan as a more mature mouse.....especially with 4 little ones running around, so I always picture him with a middle aged voice...

Martin - Jordan Fry, he played Mike "TV" on Charlie & The Chocolate Factory (the new one with Johnny Depp and Freddie Highmore)

Teresa - Daveigh Chase, also known as Lilo, from Disney's Lilo & Stitch movie....or Erica Beck who did the voice of the little pink octopus Pearl on Finding Nemo...

Timmy - Jonathan Lipnicki, from The Little Vampire, Stuart Little, Jerry Maguire, etc...he's like 15 or 16 now, but his little lispy voice? Would have been perfect....now I'd probably have to lean toward...Alexander Gould, aka Nemo...Timmy was so young in the movie, and Nemo's voice is so little, it would fit.

Cynthia - Alyssa Shafer, she played the little kind of nerdy girl on Daddy Day Care, she's been on a bunch of TV shows including The Practice, The Unit, and House...Or Georgie Henley, who played Lucy Pevensie on The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe.

Auntie Shrew - Glen Close (Cruella DeVille 96' version of 101 dalmations), or Joan Plowright, the nanny from 101 Dalmations, Martha Wilson from the live action Dennis the Menace, Miss Plushbottom from the new Curious George, she's really been in so much...She's got that older dithery but not a pushover voice.

Mr. Ages - James Gammon, He's been in a whole lot of stuff....he's just got that gruff sort of voice I pictured Ages having....not the singsong annoyed one that he actually had in the movie....That or possibly Hugh Laurie....now best known from House, but he played the dad on the Stuart Little movies, and a number of other roles as well....I think he's extremely diverse.

Jeremy - I think Eddie Murphy...The man was born to do voice acting...he's got all his personality right there in his voice, alot like Dom did....I miss Dom....licriesli My Itchy Itchiford and Jeremy voice actor is gone!

Justin - Hugh Jackman...Wolverine. I <3 Him. Or Possibly Bruce Willis.....if you can't think of a single character Bruce has played, shame on you!

Jenner - Tim Curry, too many things to list...but he's got a great bad guy lilt to his voice when he wants to...

Nicodemus/The Great Owl - I'm all for Christopher Lloyd...Have you ever seen The Pagemaster? He's got that breathy mysterious thing going on....

Uh... unless you're thinking of a different type of "gone", Dom DeLuise is still very much alive and with us. n.n

Hmm, I had been told recently that he passed, but eh.

Edit: My mom is a flaming dork and told me "just to see what my reaction would be"....this was like a week or two ago, she couldn't have been like "Hey, I was being an asshat, lollzerz11!!"...

I love parents....aren't they grand?

Cedric

13-01-2007 18:50:55

Bruce Willis? Lemme see, oh Armageddon right.
As for Dom, I seriously doubt he's dead. He sounded fit as a fiddle in the Christmas special of All Dogs Go to Heaven (An All Dogs Christmas Carol). So unless there was a freak accident, he's still kicking.
Christopher Lloyd: Love the guy. Back to the Future, The Pagemaster, Cyberchase (TV show). Great actor.

Dingo

13-01-2007 20:44:24

He isn't dead for one, my mother just gets her kicks in a very strange way, as I stated above.

Number two, you DO realize the ADGTH Christmas special was done 9 years ago, don't you?

And yes Armageddon, but he was also the voice for RJ (the racoon) in Over the Hedge.

The Over The Hedge movie just took away from the various political elements from the original comic strip. That's my opinion of it anyway.

Dingo

13-01-2007 23:30:39

But it was made to be a kids movie.....lack of political propaganda is a GOOD thing when you'd prefer your 5 year old to actually ACT like a 5 year old instead of debating the state of the economy with Suzy at their next sandbox corporate meeting. Take it at face value and enjoy things for what they are instead of what they lack or could have been if done differently...thats my policy.

Cedric

14-01-2007 17:40:09

Has it been that long? lichecks calenderli I guess you're right. My does time fly.
Also, I didn't know Over the Hedge was based on a comic strip (then I also forgot that Bruce was RJ).

Even some they could've done it like they did with the Fairly Odd Parents. For example...

Timmy: Cool! I'm huge, powerful and destroying small people!
Guy: Just like the I.R.S.!
