Hey Simon,

I was just wondering how one would go about posting pictures on your site. Other that the avatars, I would like to be able to post some pictures of myself for example. You need not worry because I do not plan on posting anything that could be construed as even being remotely objectionable. What I'm thinking of is something along the lines of what fellow member Jayn does with her responses. I'm speaking of the picture she has of Mrs. Brisby from SON2. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Peace :D

Well, if what you'd be posting is your own fan art, you can send it to me to post in the Art Gallery. But it sounds more like what you want to do is add an image to your post or signature. If that is the case, you'll need to upload the image to a site like http://www.imageshack.us and then follow the instructions on using BBCode to post images[=http://www.thornvalley.com/commons/forum/faq.php?mode=bbcode#9]the instructions on using BBCode to post images.

Man. I need to make a FAQ. n.n;

And now you've opened the floodgates to MASSIVE photographically intense signatures on the forum Simon. ;)

Speaking of which, NIMHmaniac, and anyone else considering doing so, Adding photos to one's signature should be done in moderation, and with small resolution photos. Remember, people will have to load those images every time they view a thread with one, or more of your posts in it, and it could slow down the forum considerably. Especially those on slow connections... like myself. :(

To Xavier,

I fully understand your point. Believe me, I was not planning on putting up any picture that takes up a lot of memory. I just wanted to ocasssionally add a picture that might be relevant to the overall theme of this forum. Before I upgraded to DSL, I myself had to put up with long waiting times whenever someone sent me a huge file.

Peace :D

No problem. I just commented about it more as a preventative measure. Never hurts to think ahead. It was your signature you wanted to add a photo to, and not a specific thread in the forum, right? The procedure to do both is slightly different. As Simon noted Click -HERE-[=http://www.thornvalley.com/commons/forum/faq.php?mode=bbcode#9]-HERE- to learn how to add an image to an individual post.

Simon is right, as far as just being able to host and post a pic imageshack is good, and also I use photobucket, or my site to host, if you do not have a site of your own, then one of those will work just fine.
Since I got here to Thorn Valley after visting Nimhster`s check there also I`ve said some more since you posted the same question, and as Simon said, follow the instructions on using BBCode showing how to post pics :)

Of course you have to put BBcode down for images or you can add them from imageshack, photobucket and more. I prefer photobucket because you get to upload as many pictures as you want.

I started with imageshack, but photobucket seems work well for me also, but in time my NIMH site started and when you pay a few bucks, its unlimited pics of files and can hosted anywhere,
Tinypic,
http://tinypic.com/verify.html
Photobucket,
http://photobucket.com/ ,
Imageshack,
http://www.imageshack.us

For me photobucket was more of a album of pics.
find the one that is most easy for you to use and go with it, hope to see your new pics in the forum. :D .

If you register with ImageShack you can upload as many pics as you want as well, and browse all of the images you've uploaded in one place as well. I prefer the way ImageShack woks over Photobucket personally. That, and ImageShack doesn't restrict the size of file you can upload as much as Photobucket as well. I think Photobucket only allows under 1mb, where as ImageShack allows up to 1.5mb.
