Apology

As most of you know, Simon has locked the Steve Irwin topic. I take full and sole responsibility for causing him to make the decision. I did cause a bit of an uproar and acted pretty childish. I apologize for any inconvenience and I do check my e-mails fairly regularly, so if anyone wants to send me hate mail, I'll understand. I do not intend this to be another topic to discuss Steve's death on, so please don't. If you still want to talk about him, Nimhster's forum has a Steve topic that is still open. I can understand anyone hating me for starting something and getting the topic locked. I can be such an arse sometimes and I still feel like one. Still, I apologize for ruining it for everyone. :cry:

I myself see no problem with your post on this subject, at some animated forums people post on the passing away of voice overs, animaters, and such greats of animation fandom, I said my heart felt sorrow and that was it.
but on other forums, this may not be the case and if they do not want this there, then its their forum and we will respect that,

Apology accepted, from the post you posted that was rather..."loud" and half directed at me.

Still, all I said was "It was bound to happen." meaning that since he always seems to dare a dangerous animal by walking up to it and fooling around with it, I always figured that something like what has been mentioned would eventually happen. It's not like I said he deserved to die or attacking him. What I meant was that I was never really a fan of his work and I never watched a whole lot of his shows and therefore I really didn't feel much loss like most people felt with the incident. Just posting my thoughts on a very heavy topic, is all.

Try to be a bit more careful next time, okay? :wink:

Admit it, I'm a bum moron.

I guess that I'm the real culprit because I was the one that first posted this topic to begin with. I knew back then, and even stated so, that this thread was off-topic, but at the time I simply wanted to give those of you in the NIMH community a chance to express your feelings whatever they may be regarding his death. I had no idea that by doing so, I would be responsible for causing some grief of my own doing because of the thread being locked and the subsequent prohibition of anyone being able to add their thoughts on the subject. Once again... I'm sorry.

I like that idea, most animation forums have a off-Topic subject thread, at times it can get a bit out of hand being what the subject is but it`s rare.
as I post this I must with all here ask forgivness, just in this thread I let my big mouth take five steps ahead of my brain.

i think simon has no off topic forume because it would draw too much attention away from the topic the forum was meant for secret of nimh. plus an off forume could cause unnessasary arguements and hostility.

cedric i really dont think you said anything stupid i am pretty sure you are just taking this to hard its not your fault the dang steve erwin topic was locked it was more of the fact that it was to off topic and causing arguements. if you want to place blame it should be place on the persons that started the arguement and that was not you cedric.

.....Excuse me? I didn't start anything, all I did was say that Erwin's death was enevitable, it was bound to happen, waiting around the corner, that's it.

The reason I said I wasn't all too affected by it was because I never knew Irwin, nor was I ever a fan of his shows, but I didn't hate or loathe the guy or want him to die. I feel sorry for his death of course, but how can I be as mournful like everyone else is for I guy I barely even knew anything about? I didn't make any harsh comments nor insults to Irwin or anyone else, why does the blame keep shifting to me?

Cedric was the one that lost his temper and started threatening, and for what, because I stated rather calmly that the guy was going to get killed sooner or later since he dared the most dangerous of animals and I don't quite feel as much 'hurt' as everyone else does for someone that was a vague memory to start with?

I think the original thread was fine as a tribute, and the observation about Steve's recklessness valid--but this is no reason to get testy to each other about this sort of thing. It is not only unproductive, it's counterproductive.

People have a wide variety of opinions. Sharing them does not give you the right to attack them for them. You can dissagree with opinions all you want, but it does not give anyone the right to attack the person who voiced them. I know that's what everyone is used to with all the soundbites on the news and what have you, but it is not the way things will be handled here.

If I see another thread on Steve Erwin here again, it will be deleted mercilessly.
