Hey Simon,

As gross as this was, I couldn't help but to be fascinated just the same. To others out there who are "grossed out", please remember that this sort of thing occurs in the wild all the time. The centipede was not doing anything other than just being a centipede.

That is something, for the most part in brut force and getting eaten, the insects loose (but not all the time).

I agree with NIMHmaniac that "The centipede was not doing anything other than just being a centipede", for they must eat to live as we do, Next time you look at your dinner plate you will find that what you are chowing down on is those that haved lived. Plants, animals, fish and in some parts of the world insects.
The centipede must eat what ever it finds or he dies, in the same light he can be eaten by some thing else that must live on.

Wow...I was most impressed by the sheer size of that thing. It's probably poisonous: I personally wouldn't want to keep one as a pet. It's like keeping a rattlesnake or a cobra. But Nature does fascinate me: she always has, and always will. ;)

What part of the world do those centipedes live in?

Awww, poor thing. It was trying to walk away too before it got caught. You're right though, that thing was huge. Little rodent didn't stand a chance.

It wasn't really the centipede eating the mouse that got me. It was hearing the mouse squealing when it knew it was done for. The 2nd clip honestly pissed me off a little bit. I can understand feeding your pets, but he really should've just let the centipede catch the mouse by itself. It's not like the mouse was gonna get out. It made me wonder if the centipede would've eaten it if it was dropped in there already dead. Still, interesting clips.

Ugh, fascinating and gross at the same time. I live on a ranch/farm, so I see this every day, but it never ceases to give me a shiver. :)

Poor mouse, but I guess it's the circle of life.

Good God!! Well, I know this is what happens in the nature everyday, but when someone does this deliberately, it makes me sick. Remind me of some ancient brutal emperor who dug pits full of these things, and then threw people into them. lichillsli
