According to the counter I have on the fan art gallery, we're just a few images shy of 1,000 images in the gallery... Quite frankly, it blows my mind away. By comparison, the Studio art gallery contains over 1,300 pics with about 1,100 of them as screengrabs. If you can remember that far back, I started out with... well, nothing. ;) However, I got my first fan-art submission from Andy Hegewald[=http://www.thornvalley.com/gallery/fan/andy]Andy Hegewald, containing about 3 pics involving Timothy (and Cynthia, too), way back in July of 1998. (I can't believe it's been that long either.) It sure has come a /long/ way since then. According to the Gallery statistics, just over 260 pieces of art were posted in the last month alone!

Like I said, it just blows me away. I'm deeply honored to have contributors use my site to show off their work and amazed at the quality of the work that they do--even though there's a lot of it being done, it's all very high quality work, which amazes me even more.

So, I'd like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Thorn Valley's contributing artists; here's to the next 1,000. ;)

PS: While researching for this post, I found 4 images from Andy Hegewald that (for whatever reason) I hadn't posted, back when he submitted his other pieces of art. I can think of no better way to honor the occasion (and the person that started things off) than to post them for you. Take a look![=http://www.thornvalley.com/gallery/fan/andy]Take a look!

That`s wonderful Simon,
When I visit Thorn Valley I also make It a point to check the "Fan-Art" page on your site, It`s getting hard to keep up with them, and beautiful work I might add :D .
I was wondering, you also have a lot of NIMH related art work your Robin`s fan-fic site also, does that add even more?

I'm glad that you have been able to accomplish so much with your site. If it were not for you and others like you that have posted websites dedicated to SON, we would have nowhere to turn as far as expressing our love for this movie and the artform of classical animation as a whole. Once again Thank You... :D :D

Hey Whiskers,
I appreciate the inquiry as to my well deing. In answer to your question, I would have to say not too bad. Especially now that I know that there are friends like you who care. BTW if you recall a couple of months back I introduced a poll that asked for your (meaning the NIMH community as a whole) opinion as to re-releasing SON for the 25th anniversary. Sad to say, my efforts seem to have been in vain. The reason I say this is that first of all, there was not a great response to the poll (I think only 6 - 8 people responded). and second, I did send the results over to MGM/UA but to date they have not responded and at this point, I'm not expecting them to do so. I will try to keep my hopes up though. Who knows... They just may suprise us all yet. Lets keep our fingers crossed... :D :D

liChucklesli It's an entertaining switch going from normal posting font to yours. I'm sitting close to the screen with my reading glasses on, then this bright bold blue font blares to life. Hehe. Good times.

There's a font colour selector just above the message box when you reply to a post.

As Torrie stated in his reply, there is a size and color selector just above the text section. You simply highlight which parts you want to change the color of or enlarge, select the function and voila it is done. As to why i use a somewhat larger font... The reason is quite simple really. I suffer from severe nearsightedness so you can imagine that a large bright font would be a whole lot easier on the eyes than the regular font would be. I imagine that for those of you out there that are similarly afflicted, you would have to agree with me on this score as well.

Peace :D

Hey, thanks for the reply, sorry it took so long for me to get back to you, but we have at work been getting ready for our air show this weekend and I got worked to the bone. :(
I`m so glad your doing OK , at our age I`ll settle for that :) .

I`ve never seen SON on the big screen and hope to during it`s 25th year that I may for the first time get to see it in that mannor, the first time I saw this wonderful movie was on a rented VHS tape in 1984, then I paid 80 bucks to buy the movie on VHS.
I hope that some one hears us and will put it back on the big screen for the 25th.
When this movie is in it`s 25th year I`ll be 50 years old and will not be around for the next one  I`m keeping my fingers crossed also.

Hey Whiskers,

I don't normally do this over the internet but this once I'll confess my true age which is 49. That means I'll hit the big FIVE-O next year if all goes well and nothing unexpected happens. I have to admit that sometimes I cannot believe it myself.
I have to admit that I am rather curious about one thing. That is how did you end up paying $80.00 for a VHS copy of SON when the going rate at the time at any reputable video store was no more than $20.00 ~ $25.00?? I'm not saying that the movie wasn't worth every last penny and then some, but still to have paid just about four times the going rate seems strange to say the least. Where was this tape purchased?? Was this a special master tape or directors cut??

In the early days of VHS "the early 1980`s" I remember it was big money to buy a movie , I ordered it thru our video rental store here in town and the movies like "Star Wars" was getting the big bucks, but even when I would go down to LA the price did not drop by much.

looks like you maybe a tad older than me, this is cool, NIMH fans as I`m finding out come in all ages :)

Amazing how times change: I paid 10 bucks for The Secret of NIMH on DVD a couple years ago (about the same amount i paid for the vhs a few months before that)
Speaking of art, however, i ran across an old SoNIMH storybook buried in my clothset (more like i was wondering where it was and went hunting for it) Entitled Mrs. Brisby and the Magic Stone. It has some great pics in it that i'm sure would go well in...well...one of the gallaries (technically it's not fan art because it was a syndicated book so it'd probably go under studio art) I'm not quite sure who to talk to on this one so any ideas are welcome. i'd hafta scan 'em in once i can get the old thing fired up an running...
Anyway, if someone could drop me a line and let me know who to talk to about that i'd apreciate it.

Welcome to the forum Tod! :D
Yeah, I'm not sure if it'll fit on the fan art section, more likely at the studio art, but anyway you should talk with Simon about that.
Just send him an e-mail to seoman (at) thornvalley (dot) com, I'm sure he'll be glad to post your pics. :)
