I was just curious, Simon, what NIMHcon was really directed at... as in purpose and aim, you know? Did y'all do anything in 2000 that celebrated or had to do with SoN, or was it like a NIMH fan vacation?

Both are totally awesome, and I'm not raining on your parade or anything. I'm just used to cons having more to do with the actual fandom in question, so I got curious.

Also, any plans as to when there will be another?

Well, "con" has always been a misnomer for the NIMHcons I've seen and been involved in. It's probably more accurate to call them 'meetups'. It was just a bunch of fans that got together to have fun.

Currently, the NIMHcons have kinda been absorbed into the Memphit Fur Meet con, since there are regularly a small group of fans that meet there. I'd be all for doing a seperate NIMHcon again, especially one more towards the west coast, but the interest doesn't seem to be there.

Ah, I see. That's cool. Being in Texas has kinda twiddled with my opportunities to join in with that kind of stuff, but I'm looking forward to future possibilities. Being too far away and busy to boot has its effect, you know?

Still, thanks for the reply. I appreciate it.

Being in Texas, you might be in a good position to attend what NIMH fan meeting there is at MFM. It's held during labor day weekend in September, in Memphis TN. Not all that far from Texas. I say not far, taking into account I've attended MFM the last two years, coming from Ontario, Canada. ;)

MFM is a rather casual, and friendly con. Not too big, not too small. Perfect place for friends to get together and hang out. Check out the website, if you want, at www.mephitfurmeet.com

Often the NIMH group makes arrangements to split, and share rooms and costs, to make it more affordable for everyone. Might seem weird to those who have not attended before, and may, or may not know anyone. But once there, it usually turns out you're meeting people you feel like you've known forever. It's a rather unique and enjoyable feeling. Of course, it's not like anyone is forcing you to split/share a room, if you didn't want to. It's not like we're going to twist your arm, or anything!

I'm hoping this year to break our record of four NIMH attendees. I need to spread the word a bit more!

Of course, having a NIMH member on the MFM staff, guarantees we get to see Secret of NIMH in the Video room at MFM too. ;)
