The top 10 posters at this forum (currently 20% of all forum members) are posting roughly 70% of the posts at this forum.
Concerning the fact that you are bored: Have you already read all the finished stories of Robins Fanfiction Archive[=http://robin.thornvalley.com/taxonomy/term/2?from=0]all the finished stories of Robins Fanfiction Archive? I could give you the links to the most interesting short or long stories if you wish.

Wow, statistics, huh? I'm sorry to hear that. Just kidding!

I admire you for your mathematical inclinations, my friend. I like algebra enough, thought it takes a bit of studying for me to get. I'm somewhat of a language junkie who is a bit math inept.

When I dusted off this topic it inspired me to get a little statistical myself. I’d noticed since I joined up that postings have been pretty off, with only a relative handful of regulars. So I did a little digging through the memberlist, and compiled a list of everyone who’s posted in the last six months (since May 2010)

1. Simon
2. NIMHmaniac
3. Jam
4. Moonman
5. Hazy Dreamstar
6. Maxx
7. Whiskers57
8. Nimhster
9. Jayn
10. Cedric
11. Fragraham
12. DariusGreywind
13. ChrisS.
14. Kimballberht
15. Dr. Cheezburger
16. tymime
17. Alucard5200
18. SirQuacky
19. David Leemhuis
20. Tod-street-mouse

That’s 20 out of 205, people! Like, where is everybody??? That’s an even lower count than I’d expected when I first got the idea to do this.
Plus, there are no less than 60 members whose total number of posts are 0 (ZERO).
I don’t mean to depress anyone, but those are some pretty sad stats. I guess my next question would be does anyone have ideas on how to bring some old posters back into the fold, if only just to say hi, I’m still alive and kicking? I know some are way too busy with other concerns and responsibilities; for instance, one frequent poster, Tortillian, went to law school in 2006. Still, it would be nice to get some old friends (not so much mine, since I’m still pretty new here, but you know what I mean) to check in once in a while. I'm curious to see what's new with such frequent posters as leejakobson (who?), HolyArrow, Megan_L, Tod, Light, etc.
Thoughts?

It's been my experience that at any given time there are around 10-20 regulars and semi-regulars on the forum. I know that some people that used to post have migrated over to NIMHmuck for their social fandom fix, and others just come and go. Maybe they lose interest, maybe they get busy, maybe they just don't like the community like they thought they would. I don't know all the reasons, but I'm glad for the people that do post.

As for those who never post at all, some people may register in order to track topics better or use some of the other non-posting-related features of the forum. Or the registration confirmation email might've gotten lost in the ether. In any case, I'm not too bothered by it.

I love this place, but at times it can slow down a bit, I`m a member of other animated forms, and I post there.

David Leemhuis

14-11-2010 14:54:47

I guess I mainly wanted an excuse to compile the list. Actually, I had noticed on more than one topic, going back years, how someone would comment that there weren’t too many folks posting lately. So it’s obviously not a new problem, if it could be called that. Still, if we could get some to come back...

A while ago I compiled a list of forum posters for the previous 6-month period, so I thought I’d give it another shot. Here’s how things shook out for November 2010 to April 2011, in no particular order

1. Simon
2. NIMHmaniac
3. Jam
4. Hazy Dreamstar
5. Whiskers57
6. Nimhster
7. Jayn
8. ChrisS.
9. tymime
10. Alucard5200
11. David Leemhuis
12. Tod-street-mouse
13. Hera Ledro
14. ConGie
15. GrizzlyCoon
16. Xavier
17. Backwoods
18. FeelsSorry4Martin
19. Slew724
20. David12

A few newbies, and some that hadn’t been heard from in a while checked in; funny how it worked out to 20 again…

Wow! looks like I`m still alive!

Nimhster

17-06-2011 13:16:27

I'm somewhat alive still, I just haven't been doing much in regards to the NIMH Fandom for about a year now. I haven't updated my website since December 22, 2010....I might as well plan a day here this summer to do so. Also, I'm not sure if I want to start a new forum, I was crushed having lost The NIMH Lodge and all the memories my members and I have shared through the years. It took a long time to set everything up in working condition. :x

Another six months has passed, which means it’s time for another summary of forum posters. So here’s how things shook out for May to October 2011, in no particular order

1. David Leemhuis
2. shivermetimbers
3. Azathoth43
4. Simon
5. Pennsylvania Jones
6. Whiskers57
7. NIMHmaniac
8. ChrisS.
9. Hera Ledro
10. Alucard5200
11. thecircusbear
12. ConGie
13. Nimhster
14. DarthCraftus
15. GrizzlyCoon
16. FeelsSorry4Martin
17. Slew724
18. tod-street-mouse
19. moonman
20. tymime
21. Marilyn

A slight improvement, numbers-wise, over last time. Again, a few that hadn’t posted in some time, and some newbies who made up for lost time (you know who you are.)

Azathoth43

I couldn't believe I hadn't joined before I did. I've been coming to this site for....a long time. lol

NIMH aint exactly a part of pop culture, if you get what I'm saying. This isn't "Star Wars," it's an obscure animated film that has a devoted cult following. I'm quite surprised that we have this big of a community to be perfectly honest. I don't think I've seen this much fandom over a cult film. We have all of these quality fan fiction writers: Gibbs, Leemhuis, Chris Silva, Marcus L., and more. There's quite a lot of fan art too.

Hera Ledro

06-11-2011 17:40:19

Curse you, real life! You make my side lives so much more difficult...

Probably won't get #1, but I'll sure as heck try :D

EDIT

Actually, you'd be surprised how well-known the Secret of NIMH is. Now granted, a lot of people I talk to ask "NIMH? What?" (most of them being from my generation that I proceed to smack upside the head for not watching something so awesome), but I still do have friends and acquaintances - and have even asked a few strangers - who know and like the movie very much. It is a cult classic, but cult classics are rarely actually unknown. They have cult followings - such as our NIMH community - but the 'following' does not really account for the number of people who saw and enjoyed the film, merely the people who are dedicated to keeping it known.

I wouldn't call myself a regular here but I still check this forum from time to time. Also went through about a year or two where I couldn't remember the password for this account or the email attached to it, so I just lurked without an account.

I still love the movie a lot. I still try to keep up with the small fandom that is based around it. I imagine me (and a good deal others) just tend to look in from the sidelines.

Six more months have passed (holy crap!), so here’s who posted to the Forums from May thru October 2012, again in no particular order:

1. Simon
2. David Leemhuis
3. shivermetimbers
4. SentinelMoonfang
5. Swayti14
6. ChrisS.
7. Mrs. Brisby
8. Alucard5200
9. Pennsylvania Jones
10. DariusGreywind
11. Jam
12. Nimhster
13. beerbeastredux
14. Deadliest Dillinger
15. Jayn
16. Thursday
17. Brendan
18. Matthias
19. Jeff
20. NIMHmaniac

Ooo…a slight reduction from last time (23 to 20). Though we again had some long-timers check in, some in response to the NIMHmuck reboot. Unfortunately, we lost one regular poster, Whiskers57, whose last post was on 4/29/12. :(

Nimhster

03-11-2012 13:09:02

I remember when I first joined; I used to make a lot of nonsense posts mainly because I was young and excited to see a fansite that shared the same interests I have. I'm much better about that though.

It's still hard to believe that he's gone too... He was an awesome member.

I refuse to be on the next list!

...Huh, I guess posting this automatically makes me liable to be put on the list for the next 6 months. Damn! Oh well, let's see if I can make it a year without posting.

While you're enjoying less of my putrid presence on these beautiful forums, why not check out a cool little short story by Simon-Pierre Castanié? It's called "Departure" and you can read it here: http://robin.thornvalley.com/node/634

Simon-Pierre has created a Don Bluth exhibition that 4 towns have accepted and he's currently negotiating with other towns as well!

Have a great day and a great life!
