Has anyone heard what Don Bluth and Gary Goldman are up to at the moment? From what I have managed to glean off the internet they are trying to put together a 'Dragon’s Lair' film, but I couldn’t find any details. I'm assuming that it will be animated. but does anyone know for sure? With traditional animation in the state that it is, we need some past masters to rekindle the fire of the golden age of animation. I'm just worried that with all the talk about animation studios hanging up their pencils and shutting down that Gary and Don will have gone the same way. Also has anyone heard whether Dreamworks are still in the animation business and are just dormant, or have they had enough too?

Well... I don't know about the rest, but according to their free-for-all ask a question and get an answer page at http://www.donbluth.com/contactus.cfm they are planning to do more feature films. There's even mention of the possibility of a sequel to NIMH, for what its worth. :) In any case, it's very un-cut and un-filtered and you have to wade through a lot of rough to find the diamonds, but it's there. You can even ask a question of your own if you'd like.

That said, the main donbluth.com site doesn't make any mention of any of their current projects. As an aside, they should find a webmaster that can fix the mess of a website they have up currently... wonder if they're hiring. Hmm... ;)

Thanks Simon. You've given me some real piece of mind, though they seem to be playing their cards close to their chests in those replies. They're really cagey when anyone mentions future, or even potential, projects. In reply to your aside: part of the reason I asked the question here was that the website is atrocious. No news board, horrible decor, not really worthy of these animation greats in my opinion. Drop them a line and show them how it's done! Still, it's good they’re staying in the business, and don't seem to be abandoning the art form to which they have contributed so much.

They regularly delete the older posts in the "Contact us"-Section of DonBluth.com. In one of those deleted posts they said that they have negotiations about the financing of the project.
