An example of a good Justin/Mrs. Brisby fanfic?

I'm curious if one exists....Paul S. Gibbs doesn't count because they technically weren't a couple. Do they exist or are they a myth?

When I was younger I was cool with the idea of Justin and Mrs. Brisby being a couple. But now it doesn't make as much since. That being said, my favorite fanfic with them as a couple would probably be Darkest Days by Badbird (JC Foster).

I'm no big fan of inter-species couples either, but I would like to see how someone would go about doing it....

Though I must admit when I was 5 years old I wanted to marry my female dog....her name was Moose....

I sadly couldn't bring myself to do it because she would grow old while I remained young and that was a secret I wasn't willing to share with her.

That was very creepy.

I googled "Darkest Days NIMH" and it brought me to Robins, but since it was a rated R story it's no longer on there and the site where it's hosted on is no longer available.

I'm not sure if an R rated story with "sexual content" involving Mrs. Brisby and Justin intrigues me or scares me.....probably both.

I'm assuming it must be pretty graphic in order to achieve an R rating.

Nevermind...the hellhole that is fanfiction.net has it.

I don't mind the rats of NIMH using human curse words, but referring to mating as "fliliking" is a little too much for me because fliliking is slang referring to human intercourse. Adding swearing to dialogue doesn't make your story seem dark and edgy, it makes it childish and silly. Don't get me wrong, as I said... I don't mind it...I swear all the time...it just doesn't help your story. Resurrecting Jenner and Nicodemus makes me want to slap the author in the face.

....This being said the talk Mrs. Brisby has with her children about her relationship with Justin is very well done and believable...she will never forget Jonathan, but Jonathan would want her to be happy and Jonathan will always have a special place in her heart.

"Out of Range" was one, I believe, though that's more of a crossover.

What's a crossover? I've heard of them, though I dunno what they are.

That's when characters from two separate movies, books, etc. star in the same story. For example, making an American Tail/Secret of NIMH crossover would probably involve scenes with characters like Jeremy and Tiger meeting (with Jeremy trying to hold back all of the sneezes), or Mrs. Brisby babysitting Fievel.

Right. This one is specifically a Rescue Rangers/NIMH crossover. It's... interesting. It suffers from an ending that doesn't really pay off the beginning, though I found it an engaging read.

You mean "Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers"...or something else? I can't honestly say that's a natural combination. Mind as well have a crossover with "The Blair Witch Project" or "Grindhouse."

Though all this talk about cartoons makes me miss my childhood....Pinky and the Brain, Rocco's Modern Life, Animaniacs, the goods. Now-a-days it's fliliking Spongebob and Dora the Explorer.

Yes, that exactly. It definitely has to bend canon quite a bit, I'll admit, but at least it's better than Gonterman's "Rangers of NIMH". :3

Yeah.....Darkest of Days was pretty bad. Sadly I can't accept it as being a good Justin/Mrs. Brisby fanfiction. Having Justin stalk Mrs. Brisby like a Voyeur with Nicodemus' viewing globe after Jonathan died is nasty, not charming. Yet Mrs. Brisby seems to find it charming....That's just sick, I'm sorry.

How about a Muppets crossover? Jeremy is pretty much a Muppet and Dom DeLuise was a guest on an episode of the Muppet Show, so it fits. I mean nothing will crossover with NIMH naturally, so mind as well have fun with it.

It's also appropriate, we already have a frog and a pig couple so a mouse and a rat couple would fit right it.

Swedish Chef: Herm boing de shper de Ratatouille.

Justin: WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?!?!?!? LET ME GO!!!

Mrs. Brisby: Justin!

Kermit: NONONO!!! We do NOT cook the guest stars!!!

The NIMH experiments were actually done by Beaker and Dr. Honeydew.

Pennsy great Muppets crossover gag. lol

Back to the original topic I'd come across the occasional reference to "Darkest Days" in other topics, and it seemed to have gained quite a lot of notoriety. I'd known about fanfiction.net as well but hadn't explored it in any great depth, so I'm glad SMT brought it to my attention. Is it a good Justin/Brisby fanfic? I've only started reading through it, though I'll admit the love scene in Chapter 6 got my attention pretty quickly. So far it seems pretty well thought out but I'll reserve overall opinions for later; I may even do an actual review of it sometime.

Hm. That sounds about as believable as a collaboration between David Bowie and the Muppets.

Yeah, looking back, that was really good Jones. After you're done with your fanfiction, want to work together on a Muppet Show crossover?

I've been committing myself to too many things lately. Now I know I'm insane. I'm in! :D First Thorn Valley War, then Redwall with David, then Muppets. My media projects will be interspersed throughout, but I'll only work on one story at a time.

Sweet, this should be fun. It doesn't have to be long, just a few segments involving the Muppets and the NIMH cast.

How about this for an epic crossover: The Secret of NIMH / The Neverending Story / Redwall.

Timmy is sick in bed, somehow he gets the neverending story book, reads about the world of redwall, maybe mix in some Fantasia.

That just happened.
