Am I really the first one come up with a story with Martin and Breta in it? I searched Robin's Fanfiction Archive site to no avail.

Breta was introduced as an understood character in Racso and the Rats of NIMH. The Secret of the Stone has a small scene with her (maybe) in it, though it seems it's unimportant to the plot. But then again, I'm not even done with part one yet. :x

Has there been any other fanfiction about Martin and Breta before? If so, how did they go about it? I'm interested in hearing other people's takes on their relationship.

Has it been done before? Yes and no.

In Nathaniel "Simon" Price's unfinished story, "Return to NIMH," Martin is married to Brenda (not Breta, and "Bre" for short) and they have three kids. And it's book-based, so the family name is Frisby. Since it's in the T.V. library instead of Robin's, that may be why you overlooked it. Find it at

I see. So I guess Martin is single in most of the movie-based fanfiction except (at the very least) the one I'm doing. Even in Mr. Price's story, she doesn't seem to be too important in the plot, just like in Racso and Secret of the Stone. I still believe, though, that maybe it has been done in-depth before, and a quick search won't bring it up.

On a side note, is there a different edition of Racso and the Rats of NIMH where her name is Brenda? :? In the edition I read, I saw that Martin had a mate, and her name stuck with me ever since: Breta. Am I seeing here another "Who Shot First?" controversy here?

I think I meant to use the name mentioned in Racso for her; not sure if I changed it on purpose. The shortening to "Bre" is intentional because I'm just not fond of Brenda or Breta as names. I don't recall having any particular ideas for her character either, so you're probably right about her not featuring prominently.

I have very serious doubts that I'll ever complete my fanfic, or that if I do it'll look anything like the chapters I have up. But hey, there you go. :)

I think it's possible that the spell check didn't identify "Breta," and one of the suggested alternatives was "Brenda," so you went with that. Or, like I said above, there could've been another edition of Racso where her name is Brenda.

Since I seem to be the only one who is doing a story about them, I'll do my best to make it great. 8)
