This is an old portrait of Anita that I sketched spontaneously on the back of a school circular :3 Along with setting some basics of her design, this pic also highlights a theme that I'll be using quite often in my art: dualism and contrast.
Anita may be sugary and cheerful on the outside, but inside her heart is pained by the tragedies of the past and the troubles of the present. She perceives such sorrow and loss around her, that at times she feels like weeping in anguish. She has the heart of a mother, so tender, compassionate, and noble.
Yet, she is also gifted with a peculiar talent in fighting and combat. Taking to heart the old adage to use one's talents wisely, Anita sets out to dispel the darkness around her and fight for a better future. Though she weeps, she also struggles. Mother's heart...warrior's soul.
I've modified her story considerably since I drew this, but the basic theme of struggle amidst great emotion is still very relevant in her development today.
