The picture represents how Algernon is loosing his mind pretty much. The current situation is that Algernon feels that if he dosent protect Jennefer from the truth (thier children being dead), she will fall because of it. Infact thought, it is Algernon that is suffering and falling the most. As he continues to walk in depression, his mind becomes diluted and impure. Jennefer on the other hand, will take the loss better than Algernon thinks and in the end, be his only way to salvation from his own mind.
